A practical guide for understanding when extraordinary impact should be recognised as merit points.

Big Idea

Merit points recognise extraordinary impact

Merit points are separate from daily KPI and RISE behaviour. They should not double reward normal job responsibilities or pre agreed strategic tasks.

Baseline task

If it is part of the job, it should not receive merit points.

Recurring pattern

If it shows consistent behaviour, record it as RISE evidence.

One time high impact

If it is outside scope and creates significant value, consider merit nomination.

Decision Matrix

Before nominating, ask these questions

Is this a baseline expectation? If yes, no points.
Is this a recurring behaviour pattern? If yes, log a performance note for RISE.
Is this a one time high impact event? If yes, consider merit nomination.
Did it solve a company wide issue? If yes, it may qualify for higher recognition.
