Performance Review Guide

A practical guide to RISE, KPI, evidence based review and fair performance evaluation.

Big Idea

Performance review is not only about scoring people

It creates clarity, fairness, growth and accountability. At ASEC, managers review both what people deliver and how they deliver it.

RISE

Measures behaviour and culture. Respect, Integrity, Synergy and Excellence show how work is delivered.

How we deliver

KPI

Measures result delivery. It shows whether role outcomes and agreed priorities were achieved.

What we deliver

Merit Points

Recognise extraordinary impact outside agreed tasks, without double rewarding routine responsibilities.

Extraordinary impact

Manager review cycle

Fair review happens throughout the year, not only during year end appraisal.

Evidence Based Review

Ratings need patterns and facts

Weak note

Good attitude.

Too vague. It does not show what happened or what changed.

Better note

During the training reschedule issue, the staff contacted Admin early, clarified missing information and prevented delay in the welcome email. This supported Synergy and Respect.

Specific fact, impact and related value.
Common Mistakes

What makes performance review unfair

Recency bias

Only remembering what happened recently and ignoring the full year pattern.

Score without evidence

Giving ratings based on personal impression instead of facts, impact and agreed anchors.

Mixing RISE and Merit

Rewarding the same contribution twice or treating normal cooperation as extraordinary impact.
